Mid-Florida Lakes Church
Mid-Florida Lakes Church is a multi-denominational Christian church which serves our community. We welcome anyone who believes that the Bible is the Word of God and Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. Our church was started originally in 2008 and over the years the congregation has evolved. We now consist of those who favor a smaller church, who enjoy the gathering of friends and neighbors, as we study and learn from sermons and music about God’s Word. Our congregation fluctuates as our snowbirds come and go, but we average approximately 50+ each week. It is a working church and monies received are donated throughout the year to organizations such as Samaritans Purse (examples: hurricane relief here in Florida and in North Carolina, fires in Hawaii and other disasters). We also support different missionary work both here locally, around the United States and in underdeveloped countries.
We meet in the large hall each Sunday morning. Our service starts at 9:30 am for our gathering and snack time followed immediately by our weekly service that begins at 10:00 am. An example of our monthly calendar includes: first Sunday of the month– Communion, and after service our monthly potluck luncheon (and no one goes away hungry!) We follow that with our monthly board meeting. Unlike some churches, our meetings are open to everyone. We welcome and value everyone’s comments or suggestions. On the second Sunday we celebrate the people in our congregation who have birthdays that month. If there is a 5th Sunday, we may have a special program, which could be a speaker or a service more geared to sharing God’s Word with music. You can find more information in the monthly articles published in the New Horizon.
Throughout the year we have special programs including a Christmas Eve candlelight service, a Christian Seder/Passover at Easter on Palm Sunday, and on Easter morning sunrise and regular services. We also hold movie nights twice a year that are open to the whole community. Holidays such as Mothers and Fathers days, Memorial Day, July 4th and Thanksgiving are also celebrated.
If you cannot join us in person, we have a Facebook website (Mid Florida Lakes Church) where we stream our services. We also save them for later viewing. Many of our snowbirds use this media to stay in touch while away.
Each week we close our service by joining hands in a circle and singing together “Family of God”. People say it takes a village but we say it takes a family. We hope you will come join us and become a part of our Mid-Florida Lakes Church family.
As we pass through this time in our journey of life, may God continue to bless you and give you peace. Amen
